The rest will take care of itself. The mere fact that that they have gone out to get links for their site, most people don't bother, has pushed their sites up. The DIRECT LINK to their sites has pushed the site up , NOT the link wheel. Even if they had got DIRECT links but no wheel the would still see the benefit. Also a problem with wheels is people don't want to see one spun article, saying the same after another. It looks bad and will lead to clicking away from the site. People building wheels and claiming their site as gone up in the rankings are wrong to think that is the reason.
